~*~*~*~*~*~About the Author: Mary and her husband love to travel, especially to the Caribbean for relaxing, and Italy for the wine. And most recently she discovered she was Irish and Scottish, of course they had to visit Ireland and Scotland. Mary fell in love with both, but the green hills of Ireland felt like home. With the experience from the exotic places she has visited, she is able to fill her books with colorful descriptions of cities, painting a colorful backdrop for her characters. One of her favorite US destinations is New York/Brooklyn, where her beloved Beckett's live. When she visits, she can wander their neighborhoods, favorite parks, and visit their favorite pub, Putnum's. They are avid concert ‘Ho’s’! Yes, they pretty much want to do them all. They love outdoor amphitheaters the best and attend as many during the warmer months as possible. Mary writes mostly romantic suspense, romance, women's fiction, and she has just begun to dabble in young adult mystery. She is a member of Romance Writers of America (RWA). During her writing career she has been a conference coordinator, workshop presenter, and chapter president for the Utah Chapter of RWA. In 2007 she was presented with the Utah RWA service award in acknowledgment and appreciation for outstanding service. Mary has also participated in numerous library panels on writing and co-presented a workshop on writing a series at the League of Utah Writers conference. Character Interview: Sabrina Boyd from The Marriage Ultimatum by Charlotte O'Shay

Where are you from? I am a born and raised New York City person. Right now I live in Brooklyn.

Did you have a happy childhood? Yes, I did have a happy childhood. My mom did the best she could to raise me when my dad left us when I was a toddler. She worked long hours to support the two of us. We lived on public assistance for a while and moved around a lot while mom searched for better housing and better jobs. But I never doubted she loved me. Just when things were starting to look better for us financially, she died in a hit and run car accident. She left behind an infant boy, my little brother. My brother has no one but me and I have no one but him. I’ve decided not to tell anyone he’s my brother because the authorities would get involved and take him away from me. They mean well but I’ve seen it happen. So everyone thinks he’s my son.

Where do you live now and what do you do for a living? I work in an office. Boring work but excellent money. My mother died when I was halfway through college so I’m trying to finish up college with online courses. Is there something you'd rather be doing? It’s finny you  should ask that because I would love to be a photographic artist but  I’m getting my degree in something more practical which was my  mother’s wish.

What's going on in your life right now? My life is in an uproar. I got fired and my boss thinks I retaliated for that by planting a tabloid story that he’s the father of my child. He will do anything to protect his reputation so he’s insisting we marry.

Is there someone special in your life? Yes. my boss, or ex-boss  Vladimir Grigory. He’s my nemesis and at the same time the hottest guy I’ve ever met. There’s something about him aside from his amazing looks. There’s something vulnerable underneath the hard exterior he presents to the world.

What's his family like? I have no idea. I tried Googling him but I couldn’t come up with anything except that he was born in Russia and now he’s a billionaire.

What's keeping you two apart? Physically, we can’t seem to stay away from each other. Emotionally it’s a different story. We both have secrets. We don’t trust each other. I can’t risk explaining to him that Alex is my brother not my son because I’m afraid to lose my little brother to the foster system. So I’ve agreed to this forced marriage.

What one thing could you do that would make you feel like the relationship will work out? If I could trust Vlad enough to tell the truth.

His gaze was trained on her, and, as he leaned  back in his seat, his relaxed body language was like a red flag to Sabrina’s overwrought senses.

Then, belatedly, he noticed Alex sitting quietly in his stroller, plucking Cheerios from a plastic cup and popping them into his mouth with toddler concentration all the while staring up at him with huge eyes.

His spine straightened at the sight of the little boy, disbelief evident on his face for an instant before being replaced by an impassive, clenched jaw.

Sabrina launched into speech.

“Yes, this is Alex. He’s the reason I’m here. You need to know, to understand. I want you to think about what you’re doing to  us.”

“I just fired you. This is where you...”

“No.” She was emphatic. “I’m not going to just get out. I can’t just fade away. I need this job. We...need this  job.”

She raised her chin, forced strength into her voice, forbidding the emotion to emerge.

“There is no one else. Alex needs me, and I need to  work.”

Sabrina had her pride. She didn’t want him to know how close to the edge they lived. But unless he understood some of it, she had no chance of survival.

“Ms. Boyd...”

“My name is Sabrina and after last night, I can’t believe you have the nerve not to use it.”

“After last night, the last thing I’m going to do is use it,” he said. He looked up for a moment straight into her  eyes.
