Book Tour and Giveaway: The Fortuna, Texas Series by Rochelle Bradley

The Double D Ranch
A Fortuna, Texas Novel Book 1
by Rochelle Bradley
Genre: Romantic Comedy

Longhorns and lingerie...

Much to the chagrin of foreman Josiah, Jessie Davidson wants a romance reduction. But the Double D Ranch hides a secret. Since inheriting the property, Jessie kept her grandmother’s hoard concealed, but now she’s found the courage to purge the unwanted items: steamy novels, thousands of them. Romance has to go! Donating the books is a good thing, right? Not when coupled with a dare.

The dare spirals out of control. The ante is upped when caches of the spicy books, left in barber shops, pool halls, and pubs, challenge others to join the fad. A perverted prankster runs amok playing on the town’s fantasies. Book clubs are formed. Plots acted out. In a town saturated with romance, Jessie finds her love life underdeveloped.

Keep Jessie safe. It’s the promise Josiah Barnes made to Jessie’s dying grandmother. He aims to honor it, even if it means protecting Jessie from himself. Failing her in the past has him on high alert when the Double D becomes ground zero for the arousal avalanche sweeping the town. As a full-support, silent partner, Josiah will do anything to augment the Double D. But when Jessie starts selling handmade lingerie, keeping his hands to himself is easier said than done…

Will she shelve happily ever after like a rejected novel, or open her heart and start a new chapter?

Rochelle puts an artistic spin on everything she does but there are two things she fails at miserably:
1. Cooking (seriously, she can burn water)
2. Sewing (buttons immediately fall back off)
But she loves baking and makes a mean BTS (Better than Sex) cake. When in observation mode she is quiet, however, her mouth is usually open with an encouraging glass-is-half-full pun or, quite possibly, her foot.
She is a Bearcat, a Buckeye, an interior decorator, and fluent in sarcasm.
In 2008 she decided to get the stories out of her head. Midway through her first novel, hurricane Ike (yes, a hurricane in Ohio) rendered the laptop useless with a nine-day power outage. She didn't give up, but continued to pursue her dream.
Every November Rochelle takes on the challenge of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo.org) where she endeavors to write 50,000 words in thirty days. You can often hear her cheering the Dayton, Ohio area Wrimos (those who join her in this crazy pursuit).
Rochelle shares her home with a big black cat, an itty-bitty orange tiger kitty, her daughter, her son, and her Prince.

Excerpt:
When Ritter arrived at the gym, he spotted Cole jumping rope. He stopped and glanced at the wall clock. “You’re late. Roommate didn’t have you tied up, did she?”
“Very funny. We got a dog. Stayed up playing with him. I hit the snooze one time too many.”
Cole ran a towel over his face, then his lips curled. “That’s not good.”
“What? Getting a puppy?”
“Naw. The we in that sentence sounds like a contract extension.”
Ritter stretched. “I won’t lie. I’ve gone home to an empty house so long, thought having someone there would drive me nuts, but it hasn’t—for the most part.”
Cole stepped on the nearest treadmill, turned it on, and ran a steady pace. “I gotta hand it to you. You’ve managed to sleep with her and keep your hands to yourself. Or have you?”
Ritter climbed onto the machine next to Cole’s and matched his stride. No need to confess he hadn’t exactly resisted, but he’d not passed second base—by much. Had it not been for the phone call, he would have hit a home run. He’d had the wood for it. “No.”
“Come on. No way you haven’t hit that. Especially after what you told me about her coming on to you.”
“That’s why I can’t let her stay. My resistance is wearing thin.”
Ritter and Cole’s phones sounded a text at the same time. Ritter read his, then shot Cole a look. “Turns out, we’re off this afternoon.”
Cole dropped his cell back into the cupholder. “I’ve never been to New Jersey. You?”
“Nope but looks like the storm is calling us there.”

Top Ten Things to Do in Billings, Montana

Last summer my husband and I spent three beautiful days in Billings, the largest city in the State of Montana. I confess that when I started researching the setting for my Hotel LaBelle Series, I began to have a major book setting crush. (Shhh. Don't tell Baltimore, Maryland or Punta Gorda, Florida!) I specifically wanted to go there to see the Northern Hotel, which I used to research historic hotels from the turn of the century, and the Crow Fair, a national event for all of the Crow Nation, and many other Native American Tribes. This year is the Centennial of this major festival! One hundred years of family reunions, fry bread, bison burgers, pow-wows, drumming, dancing, rodeos and horse racing!
As we planned our summer vacation this year, I pined to return to Billings, but we have another exciting place to go instead. More on that later (hint: it's in western Montana). In the meantime, here's my top ten list of things to do in this great city!

New Release: My Sexy Veterinarian by Bonnie Phelps

Nate Kincaid, wants to get out of debt and get his family off his back about his relationship status. The second means he needs a serious girlfriend, but after the death of his fiancé, he isn’t ready. No one knows about his nightmares—the ones that chase him into the dark places of grief. Dealing with debt means his fledgling veterinary practice must be successful—business before anything else. Always. Maybe a pretend relationship would solve his second problem so he can concentrate on the first.

Full-time psychologist and part-time model, Lauren Royall, has the perfect life. As a therapist she helps people. As a model, her free spirit reigns. When Nate suggests she pose as his girlfriend, she accepts on a lark. Lauren senses his pain and wants to help. She hadn’t counted on falling for the guy or the painful memories from her past his situation evokes.

 Excerpt
“You’re a walking contradiction. One of you brings me flowers and the other turns his back on me. One minute I think you like me and the next I feel like a leper.” She took a breath and plunged ahead. “Are you playing some kind of game?”

“No, no games. Gun shy, maybe. Getting too close to a woman can open a man up to a world of hurt.”

“And you’ve been there, done that?” His expression closed and she immediately missed the carefree man he’d been before she’d hit whatever nerve had made him flinch. She wanted that relaxed man back.

“Yeah, but I’m not ready to talk about it.”

“Fair enough. What would you like to talk about? It’s a beautiful day. We’ve enjoyed each other’s company. I’d like to keep it that way.” She’d find a way to tease out happy Nate or die trying.

“Well I do have something on my mind. A problem you might be able to help me solve.”

He had the look of a fox approaching the hen house. He wanted what was inside, but wasn’t sure what might be lying in wait. She put a smile in her voice to put him at ease. “I’m listening.”

“My family’s been bugging me about finding a steady girlfriend. They seem to think I’m afraid to get serious about anyone.” He picked up one of the containers and lifted the lid.

“Are you afraid of getting involved?” She didn’t expect him to open up but thought it was worth a shot.

He sniffed the contents of the container and put it back down. “No, just haven’t found anyone I want to date on a steady basis.”

He swallowed hard and looked away. Nate was lying, What part was the lie—that he hadn’t found anyone he wanted to date or that he was afraid to get involved?

“What can I do to help you solve your problem?” she asked.

“I was thinking, maybe you and I could date, like we’re a couple, so my family would back off.”

A spark of annoyance flickered in her chest. He wanted people to think they were a couple but didn’t really want to be a couple. “Let me see if I understand. We’d date. We’d pretend to be serious about each other but it’d really be casual?”

“About sums it up.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I like you. I think we have fun together and when my family decides I’m not avoiding having a serious girlfriend, we can still be friends. You interested?”

“We do have fun together and since we’re both concentrating on our careers, a serious relationship isn’t something either of us needs.” She stuck out her hand. “You’ve got a deal.”

Rumor has it that Bonnie Phelps began telling stories at a very early age. Photos exist of the author toddling around the corner of the house covered in mud babbling about magic rabbits leading her through the garden. Her parents were amused – until they discovered she had also walked across the newly poured cement patio – which only added fuel to the fire of her passion for writing. From then on, her active imagination continued to churn out plots and character sketches always wondering how different people would behave in similar situations. People are endlessly fascinating and stories are everywhere.

Bonnie used her writing skills throughout her professional life as a fundraiser and marketer for several nonprofits. She enjoyed the chance to tell and share the story of worthy organizations. In the late 1980s, Bonnie authored a syndicated column in several California newspapers in which she shared the experiences and misadventures of life as a wife and mother. The jury is out on whether or not her children appreciated her candor. Because Bonnie has romance in her soul, she also worked as a Wedding Planner for several years. Absolutely loved it!! She craves anything sweet, revels in any chance to travel, and is addicted to Ancestry.com. A native Californian, the author lives in Northern California with her husband.
