In the first of their stories, we meet Eliana, beautiful and brilliant, but starting over, focused on her career, not on some foolhardy dare. Independent and determined, she has no idea that in less than six months she will both win and lose her heart’s desire. Jeremy Klein, genius engineer and inventor, is also making life changes. He’s sold his startup to a major medical device company, becoming President and CEO, and a billionaire before he is forty. Although he’s gun-shy about the dating game, Jeremy knows it’s time to apply his smarts, sex appeal and new-found success to finding true love. When Eliana meets Jeremy, they bond quickly. The couple has so much in common and a chemistry that sizzles. Winning Eliana feels like a fantasy come true to Jeremy. Their attraction is immediate and electrifying, and a one-night stand morphs into planning a future. But plans change. On track to wedded bliss, baby and all, Jeremy and Eliana are derailed by accusations that threaten their relationship, Eliana’s career and Jeremy’s future as CEO. Spies, lies, allegations and misunderstandings abound, threatening to destroy their happiness. ~♥~♥~♥~♥~ An Excerpt from Dare to Hope:
His grin was devastating up close – wide and welcoming, with a hint of naughtiness and the promise of shared pleasures. But it was his eyes, deep coffee brown and fringed with long dark lashes that were his best feature; piercing, intelligent and inquisitive eyes, trained on her.
Please, God, Eliana prayed quickly, do not let this man be the new sales manager. It would be lamentable if she had to keep him at arm's length. He was the first man Eliana had felt drawn to since Nico. If she was honest with herself, he was the first man she had ever felt this attracted to so immediately. It was enough to make her believe in love at first sight or fate.
"Hi," he stepped closer, ignoring the empty stool beside her to halt just inside her personal space. Usually, Eliana would have reflexively backed up, but she savored his closeness, the power emanating from his presence. Even in this stuffy bar, he smelled good – fresh, like soap and good whiskey. And up close, his eyes were more magical – a hint of gold dancing in their depths.
"Hi," she responded on a breath, letting the single word hang there for a moment before adding "You aren't in sales, are you?"
"Nope." If he thought it was a strange conversation starter, he kept it to himself. "Engineering and design, although I have dabbled in sales. I could be in sales for you," he offered in a voice smooth as brandy, redolent with sexual promise and a hint of curiosity. She laughed at his offer. "Are you in sales?"
"Yes, I am. I was thinking of what a crime it would be if you turned out to be my new boss. I'm meeting him tomorrow."
"Jeremy," he responded, extending his hand to shake hers. "Not in sales. Is your boss named Jeremy?"
"Thankfully, not." Eliana extended her hand, savoring the moment as Jeremy wrapped his long fingers around hers. She noticed there was no wedding band as she admired the strength and length of his fingers, the fine hairs on the back of his hand, and his grip - warm and dry. His skin was soft over fine bone and healthy muscle. Everything about him captivated her. "Eliana."
Jeremy seemed in no hurry to release her hand, but after several beats too long for politeness, Eliana pulled hers from his. "Is this seat taken?" he asked, already sitting down, not thinking twice about it. "Or perhaps that table against the wall? I am anxious to learn why you don't know who you work with, Eliana."
Eliana laughed and watched as Jeremy's breath stopped. His every emotion was transparent, especially the desire flaming in his eyes right now. A passion she reciprocated. Wholeheartedly. She couldn't remember such an instantaneous attraction. But with Jeremy, she felt electricity and lust move through her entire body, just from the touch of his hand and the sound of her name spoken in his rich baritone.
"Eliana," he rolled the word around his mouth as if tasting a fine wine. "What a lovely name." Eliana panties dampened. He was just saying words, but their underlying promise was undeniable. She wanted to be alone with him. She wanted to be naked with him. And all she knew was his first name.
Eliana nodded toward the table, questioning her sanity. She was sure about what this man wanted, but after only minutes, her body governed her head. Jeremy spoke briefly with the bartender, passed him a fifty like it was a single, and motioned for her to lead the way to the empty table. Before they had settled in their chairs, both had fresh drinks. Earlier, the bartender had responded to her beauty with decent service and half-hearted flirting, but he reacted with alacrity to the big tip.
"So, spill," Jeremy directed, leaning forward on his elbows and putting his mouth dangerously close to hers. Just a few inches, Eliana imagined, and they could be kissing. "I am dying to hear your story. I want to know absolutely everything about you." The way he lingered on the word 'everything' made Eliana wetter still. Oh man, she was in way over her head.

Dexter and Ynez join forces to quiet the voices in his head, build her business, and ferret out family mysteries. Will the secrets draw them closer together or push them apart

EXCERPT

Pushing the covered cart down the hallway, Ynez cursed the lush carpet yet another time. When they designed this place, they forgot about the staff, that was for sure. How did the cleaners get their carts through this undergrowth? Ah, silly me, magic. She waggled her fingers and it floated up to the newcomer’s door.

She tapped lightly. “In-room dining, Mr. Graham.”

The door opened a crack and one sky-blue eyeball stared at her. “Could you leave it out here, please?”

“No, sir.” She straightened her shoulders. “I will not allow the quality of my food to decline because you leave it out here too long.”

The door flew open.

“What did you say?”

She stared into the face of the most beautiful man she’d ever met. Like a marble statue in the Louvre, all symmetrical proportions, cheek bones to die for, a gorgeous beard and a head of golden hair that screamed for her fingers to dive into and pull his lush ruby lips to her mouth.

Oh shit. He’s staring at me. He heard my thoughts, my foolish, lustful feelings.

Mortified, her face blazing, she said, “Can I bring the food into your room and serve it properly, please. It’s temperature controlled.”

He smiled, bowed, and swept his hand inside. “Yes, please do come in. Can you stay and keep me company while I eat? Do you have time?”

What the heck?

“Um, sure, the dinner rush is over, and the cleaning crew is on the job, so I’m pretty open.” Why was he acting as if he hadn’t heard all her inappropriate thoughts? Was this a trick?

“Thank you, I really appreciate it.” He pointed to the small kitchen. “I guess we can sit in here. Mind the cat dishes. Brutus is hiding under the bed.”

“Okay,” she pushed the cart in with her fingertip, allowing it to continue to float. What the heck. He knew what kind of place this was, didn’t he?

“Whoa. Neat trick. I wish I could do that.” He pulled up a chair. “Smells wonderful.”

Setting the table, she pointed to a wine glass. “White or red?”

“White, please.” Openly staring at her now, his gaze roamed over her face, hair, and arms, stopping at her tattoos. “Those are beautiful armbands. Are they flames?”

She nodded and continued uncovering dishes. “I’m an imp and a chef. My element is fire—specifically smokeless fire.”

“Nice.” Unlike other men, his gaze never lingered on her ample breasts. “Your hair—is it changing colors as we talk? Or is it my eyes?” He laughed. “I’m sorry I’m so curious. I mostly chat with people by computer. Lots of practice with my witty repartee—online.”

“Oh, yes, I can see that.” She shook her head and chuckled as she placed salt and pepper on the table. This guy.

“My brother tells me I have zero boundaries and even fewer people skills. It’s all so new to me. And I want to know everything.”

New Release: Charlotte Redbird, Ghost Coach by Sharon Buchbinder

Because sometimes the dead need a life coach, too.

Driven out of Chicago by a spiteful heiress, life coach Charly Redbird is ready for a change. She moves to Florida to be closer to her family and vows to be more selective about future clients.

With the help of Dylan Graham, a hunky real estate agent, Charly finds a perfect home across the street from a cemetery. When he shows up with a plant and two tiny balls of fluff as a housewarming present, Charly thinks she might be smitten with more than the kittens.

A new client appears at her door and asks for Charly's help, but the woman happens to be a permanent resident of the cemetery. Can Charly convince the restless spirit to move to another neighborhood—or will she take on a new role: Life Coach for the Dead?

Excerpt:

A year ago, had someone told Charly she’d be looking forward to a meal in a retirement home, she would have doubled over in laughter. Never say never. She caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror on the way out. Puffy-eyes, chapped lips, hair falling out of her ponytail. Oh well, she supposed the one thing she was grateful for was that most of the residents were too old to even see her well. No one else her age would be in the room. She sighed. I can be myself.

The dining room buzzed with conversations and laughter. Grandma introduced her to a table of four gray-haired women in assorted shapes and sizes, all wearing large flowered print dresses. “The Flower Girls,” Grandma whispered. “They don’t own any clothes without floral patterns.”

Another table of women, one with long, bright red hair, was intent on a game of cards. “The Players, exceptionally serious about their games. They eat and play at the same time.”

At a table in the center of the room, three Asian women and a balding Asian man worked at a jigsaw puzzle. “The Puzzlers. Keeps the brain fit. They finish a puzzle a day and like to speak in riddles.”

A long table beneath a large window bore an assortment of holiday decorations in miniature, along with a doll’s house. When she drew closer, Charly realized it was a made to scale model of the retirement home. A group of women fussed around the decorations and the tiny Victorian model, placing wee decorations with precision. “The Decorators. I dare not interrupt them. They need to focus. This is a busy time of year for them.”

Over in the corner, a group greeted them with loud shouts of hello. “The Debaters. They can argue over the best kind of bread, peanut butter, or orange juice. You name a topic, and they’ll give you a debate.”

A rotund man with a bad toupee proffered a bright white grin. “Would you like an argument?”

“Not today, Frank, but thanks.” Her grandmother urged her along. “We could be here all night arguing with him.” She pointed her cane at a table in a cozy corner of the dining room. “Here’s our table. Darla, this is my granddaughter, Charly.”

Like a deer in the headlights, Charly froze in place. An attractive seventy-something blonde woman clung to the arm of a large man who looked to be just a tad older than herself—twenty-nine or thirty years old. He looked up at her with dark, mischievous eyes, and smiled. The dimples made the flock of butterflies take off in her stomach—that plus the fact he was movie star handsome. He looked as surprised as she felt. Face hot with embarrassment, the idea that homeless people looked better than she did kept looping through her mind. When he spoke, she knew the rumbling tenor sent shivers down to her toes. She’d spent hours on the phone with him discussing houses, listings, and prices.

Smile broadening, he rose, towering above her now, and extended his large hand. “Big D. Delighted to meet you.”
