#BookHugs #HealAHeart by GC Meadows

Lexi takes the coward's way out when she flees to her grandmother's home in Louisville to escape her crush and her best friend from fighting over her. She returns to Bardstown married to Luke Weston. A shot rings out during their picnic together. Is one of the two men who claim to love her trying to murder her new husband?
Excerpt
Nearly four months came and went since the night Lexi believed her wish came true, and she felt more confident about the baby growing inside her. She planned a picnic by the pond to give Luke the good news on his birthday. As a preventative measure to avoid a conflict, she walked to her special spot every day at different times. Not once had she caught sight of Silas. She was not about to let him ruin her important announcement at her favorite place in the whole world.
When October thirteenth rolled around, Lexi contained her excitement, but could hardly wait to share her joy. She let Luke eat first. After all, the date was his eighteenth birthday.
“Lexi, I can read you pretty well at this point, so I know when something’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong, Luke. Everything’s right. We’re pregnant.”
Luke leaned forward to kiss Lexi in his excitement. A loud explosion startled her as soon as their lips touched. As she abruptly moved away from him in reaction, blood oozed from the top of his left arm near his shoulder. Her husband’s hand clasped his injury as he winced with pain.
Lexi leapt off the blanket and pulled Luke to his feet before she even had a chance to contemplate any concern for their safety. She got him over to her horse and helped push him on top. A rag was removed from her saddle bag for him to press against the wound. She hurriedly climbed on Onyx and headed for town as fast as they could go.

Author Bio for G.C. Meadows
My love for writing started with poetry and short stories in elementary school. The past seven years have been spent harnessing my vivid imagination into three series of contemporary and historical romance novels. My books are meant to entertain and promote love, the greatest emotion known to human kind. Even through trials and tragedies, including a murder or more, the heroines in my tales always have a happy ending (or happy for now until the sequel) with a man they profoundly love.   Message from G.C. Meadows
Reading and writing are pursuits I have enjoyed since childhood. I dreamed of starting on my own book for many years before I put pen to paper (more accurately fingers to laptop). After I completed my first historical romance, I wondered why I did not start sooner. Do not live with regrets. Reach for the starts. Your fondest wish may come true.
